Most of the drug tests are conducted on athletes, as well as in employment places. The author indicates that the traces of opiates are observed during drug tests due to the use of poppy seeds in the production of drugs such as heroin, morphine and codeine, which are usually abused by people. The article claims that there is a more specific test, which can exonerate a person from a false negative result in a drug test. However, the specific test is conducted through a blood sample or on a hair follicle. The test is important in proving that a person under a drug test is actually clean from the abuse of actual drugs.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8550755814987664025.post-60696464750002807562015-06-21T19:00:23.065-07:002015-06-21T19:00:23.065-07:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8550755814987664025.post-88553462851682484122015-06-21T18:59:49.810-07:002015-06-21T18:59:49.810-07:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8550755814987664025.post-52183486349660415522015-06-21T18:59:28.632-07:002015-06-21T18:59:28.632-07:00The article is about a person who speaks about an ...The article is about a person who speaks about an inherited disease called Tay-Sacks, which claimed the lives of his nieces. The speaker highlights the cause of Tay-Sachs disease as a lack of enough HEX A enzymes within the lysosomes of the cells leading to the buildup of toxic levels of fatty substances because the body is unable to break them down. The person narrates the story of parents who lost their first daughter to the rare disease and the struggles that the fists child went through before her ultimate death. The parents tried to have another baby only for the second child to be diagnosed with the inherited condition. The speaker lists the symptoms of Tay-Sachs disease and urges people to donate to an organization called March of Dimes, which is responsible for conducting research on genetic diseases and supporting families with associated conditions.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8550755814987664025.post-24399174175835139632015-06-21T16:32:41.039-07:002015-06-21T16:32:41.039-07:00I'm so sorry for your losses! Alzheimer’s disease is caused...This is interesting. Alzheimer’s disease is caused by poor quality of sleep. Usually, when one does not get enough sleep they are likely to have a protein build up which can result in Alzheimer’s. University of California’s scientists have established reliable evidence which shows that the Alzheimer’s disease triggers the beta-amyloid protein. A simple experiment conducted by the researchers in Berkley supports this theory. People who managed to memorize certain words and then had a good night sleep were able to recall most of the information. In contrast, people who did not get proper sleep could not recall much of what they had memorized. This scenario then implies that the quality of sleep greatly influences the ability of a person to be diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Nonetheless, Alzheimer may not be considered a big problem because a number of steps can be taken to ensure people get a good sleep. Initiatives like therapy and exercise is the way to go in order to enhance quality sleep and thus keep Alzheimer’s disease at bay. The fact that most of the patients diagnosed with diabetes tend to also have obesity shows that they are linked. Apparently, obesity and diabetes are both caused by a poor lifestyle thus confirming their mutual dependence. Obesity is a major risk factor for obese people as they can eventually be diagnosed with diabetes. In this regard, maintaining a healthy lifestyle can help prevent or treat obesity thus inadvertently helps in avoiding diabetes. For instance, when a person loses some weight it greatly reduces their risks of getting diabetes. Diabetes and obesity result from a sedentary lifestyle, and eating foods with too much fat. As such, embracing a healthy lifestyle by eating a balanced diet and exercising regularly ensures that one remains free from diabetes and obesity. Clearly, there is a close link between obesity and diabetes given that their causes and even the methods to treat and avoid them is similar. I feel like this should only be used to help the child's life. For example it should be used to help keep the child from having a life threatening disease. The beauty of people is that we are all different. If we start to use this technology to make the "perfect" baby then we might end up a lot of people who look the same and maybe even act similar. I hope that science does not end up using this technology in this way and instead using it for the better of people who really need it. This person ingested so much of it that their insides basically turned to jelly. Pretty gross, but it's crazy to me how lethal this substance is! The book stated that ricin is at least a thousand times more lethal than cyanide -- not sure if this was stated for dramatic effect or if it is accurate, but either way it goes to show how powerful ricin really is. I enjoyed the background information provided in your post, and found it especially intriguing that simply breathing in ricin can be dangerous.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8550755814987664025.post-90820212097594453502015-06-17T06:38:02.992-07:002015-06-17T06:38:02.992-07:00I found this very interesting; I also find it stra...I found this very interesting; I also find it strange that this is something that we are not seeing publicized right now because it is such a big win for animal rights groups. But I would be careful in lumping together all genetically modified foods as bad for us. Some food scientists are working to alter rice to produce vitamins to address malnutrition in poorer parts of the world, and other projects are trying to produce plants that require less water, pesticides or fertilizer. While we should always be skeptical of the claims of large agricultural companies, like Monsanto, I would take the thoughts of the two websites you cite with a grain of salt. Are there more unbiased sources assessing the possible health and environmental benefits of GMOs as well as when they may be bad? What does the science say about this topic?
